报告摘要:

Among different species of biomaterials, silk fibroin has attracted great attention due to its superior mechanical properties such as high stretchability, high strength, biocompatibility, as well as its biodegradability. Here the speaker will demonstrate the efforts made to understand and further enhance the mechanical properties of silk fibroin in terms of strength and toughness combining both experimental and modelling approaches. In addition, the speaker will introduce recent work on interface between biomaterials and nanomaterials based on collaboration with experimental groups and industry partners. It was found that the mechanical properties of biomaterials could be tuned via hybrid with nanomaterials. These results provide in-depth understandings in molecular structure-mechanical property correlation in protein-nanomaterial interface, and will be providing a guideline to future design of bio-inspired materials for biomedical applications, e.g. cutting-edge consumer care products, flexible electronics, etc.

报告题目:Artificial Intelligence in Drug Discovery: Applications and Techniques

报  告 人:Dr. Daokun Zhang (Monash Suzhou Research Institute)

报告摘要:

Artificial intelligence (AI) has been transforming the practice of drug discovery in the past decade. Various AI techniques have been used in a wide range of applications, such as virtual screening and drug design. In this talk, we first give an overview on drug discovery and discuss AI applications, which can be reduced to two major tasks, i.e., molecular property prediction and molecule generation. We then discuss common molecule representations and benchmark platforms. Furthermore, to summarize the progress of AI in drug discovery, we introduce the relevant AI techniques including model architectures and learning paradigms. This talk is expected to provide some guidance for researchers who are interested in working at the interface of artificial intelligence and drug discovery.
